Teton Valley is a rural, agricultural and ranching based economy shifting to include an emphasis on recreational tourism, and expanded second or retirement home development.
It has a small population despite the growth rate, and is a safe and friendly place to live or visit. The Valley has embraced smart growth principles espoused by the Your Town program of the National Endowment of the Arts and Smart Growth seminars sponsored by the US Environmental Protection Agency. There is a major effort to build necessary infrastructure and development projects while maintaining open space and an exceptional quality of life.
